Ingredients

  • 1 kg Ground pork (or beef) meat
  • 1 Large onion
  • 2 Large potatoes (Grated)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/2 cup Chopped parsley
  • 3 tbsp Dried mint
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • Salt & Pepper
  • 3 cups extra virgin olive oil

Equipment

  • 1 Large mixing bowl
  • 1 Grater (for potato or onion)
  • 1 Spoon or your hands for mixing
  • 1 Tray or plate for shaped keftedes
  • 1 Deep frying pan or skillet
  • 1 Paper towels or cooling rack (to drain excess oil)

Method

  1. Add all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well using your hands. Shape the meat balls the size you want and place in a large tray. Heat the oil and fry the keftedes. Be careful not to fry too many keftedes at a time, as this will decrease the temperature of the oil. Take them out of the pan once the meatball has a nice brown color all over. ..Kali orexi (bon appetit)!
  2. Note: For those of you counting calories keftedes can also be grilled in the oven (at 200 degrees C for about 30 -35 minutes). Make sure both sides are cooked before you take them out of the oven!
