Cypriot keftedes are usually made with pork, though some cooks may combine pork with beef. Rest ingredients include grated potato and Cypriot flavors such as mint and cinnamon as well as lemons! If you are on diet, probably this Is not the lightest cypriot dish to cook, since, regardless o fthe ingredients, keftedes are usually deep fried!
1 Paper towels or cooling rack (to drain excess oil)
Method
Add all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well using your hands. Shape the meat balls the size you want and place in a large tray. Heat the oil and fry the keftedes. Be careful not to fry too many keftedes at a time, as this will decrease the temperature of the oil. Take them out of the pan once the meatball has a nice brown color all over. ..Kali orexi (bon appetit)!
Note: For those of you counting calories keftedes can also be grilled in the oven (at 200 degrees C for about 30 -35 minutes). Make sure both sides are cooked before you take them out of the oven!
