Tzatziki is also known as ‘Talattouri’ in Cyprus. So, what is Tzatziki you may say? Well, it is a creamy dip made with simple yet fresh ingredients that make it refreshing and tasty. The base is yoghurt and cucumber add a few more ingredients to give it a flavourful taste and viola you’re done!
The origin on Tzatziki is not very well known as you will find it all over the Mediterranean and middle east with slightly different variations. Even various places within Cyprus and Greece have their own spin on this amazing dip.
This dip is commonly served as a started before the Meze begins. It is perfect to dip your veggies like carrots, celery and peppers in or to spread it on your pitta or bread.
The Cypriot version of this dip is made with strained yoghurt, cucumbers, garlic, lemon juice, dried mint and a drizzle of olive oil.
